JACK O’ LANTERN
It is October and Halloween is near! My favorite holiday! A time of fun and festivity. I can sense the community around me start to shift gears into the harvest season which has it’s own unique energy surrounding it.
Of course the most iconic symbol of Halloween is a carved pumpkin. I have many memories as a child sitting down with my family to carve a pumpkin and share time together. The tactile experience of cutting the pumpkin and then reaching in to scoop out the goopy inwards always brings a smile to my face.
So now that I have painted my ideal pumpkin sitting on a dimly lit porch on a cool Fall night, the real one which sits in my kitchen calls for me to reveal it’s face and expression.

Did you for real hurt your finger in that accident?
Yes I did, cut clear to the bone. One among many close calls I’ve had.
@mamapigeon Thanks! I love looking at it!

@Jabinya Beautiful painting Jason. You really captured the mood. I love your use of darks, & esp. your careful choice & placement of orange.
