Draw365 -Drawing 004

Strolling past my bookshelf while thinking of what I might draw next, my eye caught a book that has been in my possession for a long time; Burne Hogarth’s Dynamic Anatomy. First introduced to me by my art teacher in my junior year of high school, it still remains a strong influence in my creativity. During the last two years of high school, visual anatomy was forced deep down into my collective. Repetition after repetition, learning the exact spelling of each muscle, bone, and ligament that would make a visible difference when moved. All curricula reference material was based off the illustrations in Hogarth’s book.

I removed the book from the shelf, opened it and flipped through the worn, used pages until I found a illustration of a hand that I wanted to draw.

@Jabinya Have you had any success lately? Love your latest, the dark blue painting.

@Wendy1914 The blue painting is going to take months. With the transparency of the paint many more layers are needed.

@Jabinya Sounds good, does that make it very shiney looking? I find that the camera often lies when I take photos of paintings.

@Wendy1914 Diluting the paint with water leaves a semi glossy luster that when built up in layers looks awesome.

@Wendy1914 Your exactly right about photographing artwork, sometimes it is difficult to get a accurate representation.

@Jabinya Always looks good from this end, you have more patience than me I think. (Reply re: watering the acrylic down).

@Wendy1914 Re patience; not as much as you might think, that painting is being put to the side for a while. :)

@Jabinya I’ve started to do the underpainting in acrylic because oil takes to long to dry & fingerprints all over them when testing if dry
